Jean-Pierre Magremanne

Jean-Pierre Magremanne has been an expert in tax law in Brussels since 1990 and has been recognised as a specialist in tax law by the French Bar association of Brussels. He has been providing tax advice and handling tax disputes since that time.
He holds a law degree from the Université Libre de Brussels (1988), a business law degree (tax law option) from the Vrije Universitéit Brussel (1989) and a diploma in tax law from the College of Tax Science (Brussels - I.C.H.E.C. Management School 1992).
As an expert lawyer in taxation, he advises on all aspects of tax law, concerning both direct taxation (taxation of private individuals, companies, non-residents, legal persons) and indirect taxation (VAT, registration duties and inheritance taxes, etc.). He is also a specialist in regional, provincial and municipal tax law. His practice as a tax expert encompasses the field of tax consultancy and tax litigation. As regards tax litigation, he handles both the administrative proceedings (response to a rectification notification, submission of a claim, negotiations with the tax authorities, etc.) and the legal proceedings (before the court of first instance and the court of appeal).
At the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (U.L.B.), he gives lectures leading to the Special Masters Degree in Tax Management, and runs courses on “Complex issues of international taxation” and “Principles of regional and local taxation”. Jusqu’en 2015, he has also given lectures leading to specialisation in taxation matters organised by the Interprofessional Business and Law Training Centre (CeFIAD) at the Facultés Universitaires Catholiques de Mons (U.C.L. - F.U.C.A.M.). In these, he teached the legal proceedings applicable to income tax.
He is co-author of the books "Local tax procedures " (Editions Larcier, 2003, 375 pages) and "Income tax litigation" (Editions Kluwer, 2000, 785 pages). He has written numerous articles relating to tax law for different reviews (Revue Générale de la Fiscalité - General Taxation Review; Actualités Fiscales - Taxation Matters; Do Fiscum, etc.). He is a member of the editorial committee of the Revue Générale du Contentieux Fiscal (General Review of Tax Litigation) and of the Revue de Fiscalité Régionale et Locale). He is a regular speaker at symposiums and seminars.
In his capacity as a tax law expert, he is a member of the Tax Committee of the French Bar Association of Brussels.
He practises mainly in French and Dutch.
