Marc MARLIERE has been an expert in tax law in Brussels since 1979 and has been recognised as a specialist in tax law by the French Bar association of Brussels. He has been practising as a tax law lawyer since that time.
He graduated from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) with a bachelor's degree in law in 1979, and was awarded a diploma in tax law by the College of Tax Science (Brussels - ICHEC-1983).
As an expert lawyer in taxation, he advises on all aspects of tax law, concerning both direct taxation (taxation of private individuals, companies, non-residents, legal persons) and indirect taxation (VAT, registration duties and inheritance taxes, etc.). He is also a specialist in estate planning. His practice as a tax expert encompasses the field of tax consultancy and tax litigation. In the case of tax litigation, he handles both the administrative proceedings (response to a rectification notification, submission of a claim, negotiations with the tax authorities, etc.) and the legal proceedings (before the court of first instance and the court of appeal).
At the College of Tax Science (Brussels– ICHEC) he lectures in "Company Law". He is also a member of the Tax College's Academic Council.
He is the joint author of the book "Income tax litigation" (Editions Kluwer, 2000, 785 pages). As a lawyer specialising in tax law, he has written several articles about this subject for various publications (Revue Générale du Contentieux Fiscal, Journal de Droit Fiscal, etc.). He is a member of the editorial committee of the Revue Générale du Contentieux Fiscal - General Review of Tax Litigation. He is a regular speaker at tax symposiums and seminars.
In his capacity as a lawyer specialising in tax law, he is a member of the Tax Committee of the French Bar Association of Brussels.
He practises mainly in French.
